Senior Property Tax/Rent Rebate
Nevada offers a Senior Citizen Tax Assistance/Rental Rebate program to persons 62 years of age or older whose annual household income was $28,058 (plus or minus an adjustment based on the Consumer Price Index) or less during the preceding calendar year. The total income amount will be adjusted each year by the State of Nevada, Department of Taxation.  
 
This program applies to any person meeting the age, residency, and income requirements regardless of whether you own your home, rent an apartment or house, or live in a manufactured home. 
 
The filing period for the Tax Assistance/ Rental Rebate program is from February 1 to April 30 of each year. The amount of benefit depends on household income and taxes or rent paid. 
 
The Assessor's Office administers the Senior Citizen Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.  
 
The requirements are:  
 
• Applicant must be 62 years of age by June 30 of the year he/she applies.  
 
• 2007 total household income must be less than $28,058 (including Social Security).  
 
• Applicant must have been a resident of Clark County for at least six months of the previous year. 
 
• Applicants cannot have "liquid assets" that exceed $150,000. "Liquid assets" can be savings accounts, individual retirement accounts, C-D's, stocks & bonds, annuities, etc.  
 
• Homeowners assessed value may not exceed $200,000 ($571,000 taxable value). 
 
• An applicant cannot own property (other than their residence) with an assessed value in excess of $30,000 ($85,700 taxable value in Nevada).  
 
The State Division of Aging Services requires first time applicants provide proof of age (birth certificate, Nevada I.D., Nevada Driver's License or some other legal document showing date of birth). Applicants must also provide proof of rent (if renting), and proof of income. All types of income, including Social Security, must be included. 
 
The Assessor's Office has the forms and will mail them out to everyone who applied last year and anyone who requests an application. The applications are also available at Senior Citizen Centers in Clark County.
